Blood is pumped throughout our body and is the medium of transportation of nutrients essential for the functioning of every part of the body. But when this blood flow fails to reach the brain, it results in Stroke.
Stroke is an emergency situation that should be treated immediately as since the blood flow stops, the brain cells begin to die. Even if the person is saved, there are high chances of him/her being paralyzed.
Paralysis is a common condition post a stroke and is called Stroke Paralysis in these cases. Paralysis is a medical condition characterized by complete or partial loss of muscle function. It can either affect just one side or both of them.
Since stroke paralysis affects the functioning of the muscles, it hinders the normal movements of the muscles affected by it. This means that the individual paralyzed is either completely unable to move the paralyzed muscle or is partially unable to do so.
There is no definitive cure for paralysis but it is found to be treated through medications and therapy. This takes time as it also affects the cognition and higher function of the brain since there are chances that a few cells of the brain died before the stroke was treated.
Nevertheless, it is possible to treat paralysis and to help the individual in moving the affected muscle group through therapy and medication. One such therapy which we are going to talk about today is Physiotherapy.
