Every day we move our arms and legs actively to perform daily activities and movements. These parts of the body, therefore, have the prime function of bringing about activity, such as walking or cooking. Our limbs which are our primary movers are susceptible to injury from overuse.
Let's talk about medical conditions related to the upper extremity or commonly called hands or arms. The common medical conditions which affect tissues or joints of our arm include tennis elbow/golfer’s elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc.
These problems usually arise due to overuse of the arm muscles or because of nerve irritation. The causes of the mentioned problems are, however, not very similar to one another as we will see now.
Distinguishing between Tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
The above-mentioned problems are all related to our forearms, but still display differences nevertheless.
Golfer’s Elbow is similar to Tennis elbow, as it also affects the elbow. But in the case of golfer’s elbow, the inner side of the elbow is affected. Individuals suffering from golfer’s elbow experience pain, weakness, stiffness, and numbness in the affected elbow. Causes of a golfer’s elbow are playing sports involving throwing or using a racquet by an improper technique and could also be caused because of forceful frequent movements of the elbow.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome on the other hand is related to the median nerve which affects our wrists and fingers. Any irritation to the nerve because of medications or inflammatory conditions could lead to the syndrome. Symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome include weakness and numbness in the wrist.
